I'm gonna say no. It doesn't make sense to allow prophecies players to get factions gear.

I believe some people have already found several ritualist weapons in Tyria already.

Ya one time a little after the first FPE I got a ritualist communing staff drop from the chests from the Deserters quest in north shivers. Not sure if it's a bug or not.

No, you can get Ritualist items from chests and stuff. In Pre-Searing I get a few Glowing items occasionally. They can be found, but they can't be used.

Well, when Factions gets released, my guess is that the factions drops will stop happening. There is a possibility that merged accounts may be able to find Faction skins, but once again, it's highly doubted it will happen, as there are players without the original game.

Who nows? Only time will tell.

Given that people who own factions and prophecies can play in both areas, yes, assassin and ritualist items will drop in both areas. Remember, anyone can use any item, just those who have the primary attribute of the item can use it better.

Ah, but have you considered the fact that you may be teamed up with players that don't have both games?

I suppose the item could drop for the non-factions playing user, but that would just seem..out of place.

As you can play through Prophecies with a new Factions class, there is no reason not to. It is only slightly different than finding items for a class you don't play.

It would be kind of dumb to wait until after you ascend and can go to Cantha before you can upgrade from your pre-searing daggers. Then you'd have to get far enough in that campaign to find a good collector.
You can always buy from other players, but you've never been forced to buy weapons from players before, so I don't see it happening.

Also consider that ArenaNet wants people to upgrade. Hiding all the benefits of Factions from those that only have Prophecies seems counter-productive. Which is why you can play those classes there to begin with.

I guess that makes sense.

I can see someone who's only played in the Prophecies campaign without factions walking outside of Ascalon and finding some daggers, thinking 'wtf'.

Guess that may lead him to purchasing factions.

I think that if you own guild wars and guild wars factions you could find stuff from factions in guild wars because they are linked and it would make sense otherwise no they would not be found.

Hmm, maybe there would be some kind of coding to allow such a drop >_>
Merged accounts = More drops? (in a sense, not literally)

It'd be pretty stupid if someone started an assassin for the prophecies campaign (hey it could happen), but never got better weapons than their starter daggers till lions arch when they hop off to cantha.

I think everything will drop everywhere, unless it's a Factions specific weapon or something. Cantha should drop everythign since Factions only players will be able to pick from one of the 8 characters. So while all existing players may only pick assassin or ritualist that's not to say new players won't make a Warrior or Monk.

Personally I think everything will drop everywhere, since as other mentioned it's pretty much the same thing as an Axe dropping for a player with no Warrior primary or secondary.

...yet. Factions isn't released yet.

As already stated, it'd be stupid if it didn't drop. If nothing else, you could sell the A/Rt weapons to other players, and if that's not the case, it'd mean Factions players could find weapons for all 8 professions (even if the only own Factions), while Prophecies can only find for 6 professions. Apply this with the rest of the comments here and I believe you have your answer.

Wonder who the green Ogre-Slaying knife belongs too?

I got alot of items for the ritualist from the chest outside of Thunderhead Keep. Too bad it was removed in the update. None of them were very good and all of them went to the merchant.
I cant think of a single reason why items for the two new professions wouldnt drop in Tyria since we will have them in Tyria.
